HEY PRINCETON 2021!
MY NAME IS EMMA PARISH AND I AM RUNNING FOR
RE-ELECTION FOR CLASS PRESIDENT.
I CREATED THIS WEBSITE AS A PLACE TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCES ON CLASS GOV FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS
AND MY GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR.

My mission: Academics are stressful. It's important to have time to relax and take a break. I want to focus on organizing events that let students unwind and form friendships. I want to create a sense of unity for the Class of 2021.

MY STATEMENT

Hey 2021!
It has been my pleasure to serve as Class President for the past year, and I am excited to run for re-election.
This year our class has come together at events from the Ice Cream Crawl on Nassau to the Soph Soiree to '21 in the Town. We’ve had meetups with alumni during Reunions, She Roars, and Alumni Day.
Looking to the future, I plan to expand alumni relations, connecting students with alumni in their field of interest. I aim to organize events from Late Meal study breaks to class trips to the beach. Next year, there will be even more classmate-designed, fully subsidized gear.

Being punctual and attending our weekly Class Officer meetings

ALUMNI RELATIONS

This past year, we held many networking events withh our parent and grandparent classes.

For next year, I want to set up a one-on-one mentorship program
-
I also want to develop relations with other classes, especially those working on their careers right now (classes who can give us advice on life right after Princeton and how to enter the workforce).
THE JOB OF THE PRESIDENT
Responsibilities (from USG Constitution):

Serves as a full member of the Honor Committee

Is the main communicator of progress on class initiatives to the entire class

Leads the class government body
-
Plan the time, location, and general schedule of class government
meetings -
Work with fellow officers to organize class-wide events/programs

Takes executive
responsibility for all decisions/actions taken by the class government -
Interact with and take suggestions from the student body
THE HONOR COMMITTEE

The President of each class is a full member of the Honor Committee and I will take this responsibility very seriously.

This past year, I worked on the Honor Code Reform, and I hope to continue with efforts to make the HC a fair standard for Princeton students.

next year
Study Breaks:
-
Next year, I want to have more, larger scale events (with a similar vibe to Declaration Day). I am looking to plan '21Fest (inspired by the Class of 2019), an event with food trucks AND gear!
Class Gear:
-
Increased allocation of funds towards class gear next year.
-
I hope to find a balance between large, partially-subsidized orders and smaller, free items.
-
Some gear items that I hope to customize and order include a crewneck, socks, and much more!
Increasing Class Unity

Continue with '21 in the Town (monthly dinners for groups of students on Nassau street)

Have groups of students appointed to committees for each event

This will helps students see the events they want planned on campus​

I decided to make a campaign video that reflects who I really am: a sincere candidate who likes to make jokes AND someone who loves both the USG Office and the TV show "The Office"!!
The video is a mix of dry and uncomfortable Office-style humor with a more serious discussion about what I hope to achieve next year as Class President :)

In addition, I have a more serious video, focused on my vision for the Class of 2021.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have held many leadership positions, including serving on Class Gov for the past two years. At Princeton, I am involved with the Senate side of USG as a co-chair of the Student Groups Recognition Committee. I am also a part of Orange Key, SHARE, and PMUNC.

MY OVERALL GOAL:
TO MAKE LIFE AT PRINCETON BETTER FOR ALL STUDENTS
What I really hope to achieve as Class President is to make our experience at Princeton the best it can be.
I personally took a stand and contributed to causes that I am passionate about and believe that Princeton students have the ability to make better.
Two events that I have supported on campus include the Honor Code Reform and the Gun Reform Rally.
